Jodie has been an IT professional since 1986 and has been involved in Assistive Technology (AT) for 20 years, delivering assessments and support for people with various needs; including people with a physical disability, learning difficulties, cognitive and behavioural problems, mental health issues and sensory impairments - vision and hearing. This work has been delivered for individuals of all ages and abilities, in schools, colleges, universities and business environments.

Jodie joined AbilityNet, a national accessibility charity, in 2004 as a needs assessor providing assessment, training and consultancy services in various roles until 2012. During this time, he was involved in many of the organisation's projects designed to support individuals, corporations and government departments (BIS and DEFRA). Jodie's final role at AbilityNet was helping to setup and ultimately manage the charity's Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) Assessment Centre in London.

Jodie then went on to join Contact Associates, managing several DSA assessment centres around the UK and a team of assessors. The service ensured disabled students would have access to the technology and personal support required to complete their degree.

In 2013 Jodie became a freelance Assistive Technology Consultant. He continues to work as a DSA assessor but also delivers AT solutions in the home and workplace.

Over the years Jodie has been involved with the British Assistive Technology Association (BATA) helping ensure AT was promoted within government.  He has also delivered many presentations and training sessions on AT around the UK and at the Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) conference in Florida.

He is passionate about how AT can support and improve the lives of people with disabilities.

In common with all SMA consultants, Jodie has an enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) certificate and is working towards the Cardiff University Bond Solon Civil Expert Certificate.
